Teenagers

How we support Teenagers with disabilities.

How our services with teenagers differ to children?

Working with teenagers differs with working with children in that they are a vastly different age group. Teenagers differ in all aspects whether it be behavioural, physical and emotional.

Teenagers are at an age where their bodies are undergoing physical and cognitive changes in development. These experiences are fairly new to them and they often find it difficult to manage. Teenagers often tend to be more emotional and introverted, meaning they are not always able to express their feelings directly, but rather tend to show them in different means.

When it comes to working with teenagers with disabilities, the tasks become even more challenging. Communicating with teenagers presents unique challenges of their own, as these young adults can be emotionally vulnerable which requires trained professionals to engage with them.
